Jonathan Morton says:

Mercedes really engineered a great motor, however it should be noted that BMW has already engineered this, albeit less powerful in standard production, in 2009 with the N63 motor. Used Piezo fuel injection at up to 200 bar, had air-to-coolant charge air coolers and reverse air flow through the heads for quicker turbo spooling. This isn’t new tech. Not even close. BMW realized the fuel quality here was not refined enough for Piezo injectors so they did the smart thing and switched back to Solenoid type, and made gobs more power plus reliability with that setup.
