This is a preview of the the all-new BMW 7 Series, to show you the first camo shots and to give you the basic information of what to expect – especially technology wise.

The new generation of the 7 Series will be 130 kilograms lighter than its predecessor.

The most spectacular feature will be a carbon core in the chassis, which is saving about 40 kilograms of the weight – we will see that very soon in a 3D animation. BMW sets on the special mix of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). The rest of the chassis consists of Steel and Aluminum.

They have put the center of gravity lower so that it should be more like a smaller model, as for driving dynamics. From serial production, there will be an adaptive air suspension.

As for engines, we can expect a new six-cylinder.

For the first time, we will see a touchscreen inside a BMW. Also, hand movements shall be detected by a special gesture control – check out the expert demonstration later in this video, that’s really interesting.

Furthermore, BMW will offer a remote parking system where the car parks automatically without a driver at the steering wheel. You will be able to control the parking process with the car key – so you can watch and wait.

And now lets listen to BMW experts explaining some of the interesting new technologies.

I really like what is going on with the new seven series. It’s always sat behind the S-Class, A8, and XJ, and I think what this will be is the best of those cars, all pulled into one: the luxury of the Stuttgarter, the quality of the Ingolstädter, and the sportiness of the Brit.

NOW, YOU ARE TELLING ME THAT GESTURES ARE MORE CONVINIENT THAN JUST A SIMPLE PUSH OF A BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO ACCEPT OR REJECT A PHONE CALL, OR ROTATING YOUR FINGER IN THE AIR TO TURN UP THE SOUND, INSTEAD OF PUSHING THE BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT EVEN HAVING TO TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THE WHEEL, NOW THATS STUPID, ITS LIKE SCRATCHING YOUR RIGHT EAR WITH LEFT HAND.

Danilo Drašković says:

I noticed that MB have revealed S-class first, than C-class, and upgraded E-class…
Smart way, because people got so impressed with design and car itself that whey you see other models they remind you of the S-class and they are borowing some fame from it.

As much as I think that 7 series is better, and more discreet with more style, and far better driving dinamics it is lacking that wow effect to some people.
Some people say that this class is just if you have a chauffer, but a lot of people drive this car by itself, and 7-series is without competition.

Old iDrive system was the benchmark, this will give a head ake to the comperitors.

I don’t really like the steering wheel.. it doesn’t look like a BMW steering wheel to me

NebPWN says:

hopefully they can catch up to the S class in terms of interior design

Thanks !

Love seeing modern interfaces in vehicles and good step forward . Now it needs to be able to update itself over the air ,similar to Tesla .You can see the beginnings of Autonomous
driving coming in near future.Good use of advance materials .

Thanks
