F1 2018: Spanish Grand Prix Preview

Round 5 of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship takes us to Granollers, Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix. Hosting the race in Spain since 1991, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has been a popular F1 venue for fans and the teams. Being the official venue for F1 pre-season testing, Drivers often remember the circuit off by heart but this year will be a new challenge for them as the track has recently been resurfaced, removing old bumps in certain corners and the track having low grip ahead of this years race. The Spanish Grand Prix is also home to the race where teams bring their latest upgrades to their cars in a bid to turn their season around. Expect a lot of teams to bring in new changes to their cars over the weekend with drivers fighting for that extra second to beat their rivals. Lewis Hamilton took victory here last time out and in the latest race in this thrilling 2018 championship in Azerbaijan. Max Verstappen will be hoping for a clean weekend after being involved in three incidents in 3 weekends in a row, after colliding with team-mate Daniel Ricciardo in Baku. Barcelona was the scene of Max’s debut at Red Bull and his first win, will it be a scene of a comeback? Pirelli will be bringing the Medium, Soft and the Supersoft tyres for the weekend. The weather is expected to be dry with potential rain on Saturday morning ahead of qualifying.
