2017 Mazda CX 9 Review-LOOK OUT HONDA PILOT AND TOYOTA HIGHLANDER

The 2017 Mazda CX-9 has moved upscale with a class-above interior. Thanks to Mazda’s Skyactiv technology and a new platform this three-row 7-passenger crossover now uses a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder instead of a V6. This might be better than the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and Nissan Pathfinder.
Competitors to the Mazda CX-9 are the Toyota Highlander, the Honda Pilot, the Acura MDX, Acura RDX, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse, Chevrolet Traverse, Dodge Journey, GMC Terrain, GMC Acadia, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Sanata Fe, Hyundai Tucson, Infiniti QX50, Infiniti QX70, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover LR4, Land Rover Discovery, Lincolm MKX, Lincoln MKT, Mazda CX-9, Mercedes GL, Mercedes GLE, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Subaru Forester, Toyota Highlander, Toyota RAV4, Toota Venza, VW Touareg, Volkswagen Touareg.

Kevin Chung says:

Mazdas rust faster than any other car I’ve owned by FAR. I will never own another. I don’t care how well it drives.

Don Konzelman says:

Just purchased CX9 GS-L trim. It has LED Headlights and LED Taillights as shown in the brochure!.

Scott Grover says:

Great review. Glad you mentioned that the engine had enough power being a 2.0 litre turbo. I’m hopeful that Mazda will move their safety sensing tech into the lower/ mid trim levels. The CX-9 is a great Mazda product.

john paul alvarez says:

One day I will be able to finance this vehicle of the yeat

mrDMxtreme says:

Overall which would you prefer between a fully loaded CX-9 or a fully loaded Santa-fe XL ??? which has more ‘space’ (assume 3rd rows seats will always be down, aka not used) and which ‘feels’ higher quality/more luxurious in your opinion?

thanks for the reviews

Sinister Veridicus says:

Zack, coming from the States, I have to proclaim that you are one of the best reviewers on the NA Continent. :)And that CX-9 in blue looks phenomenal.

Hockey Nutt says:

Good video. Can I ask how the seats feel, is this a good vehicle for long drives?

aJerseyThing says:

Say Maazda one more time

Dondre Grant says:

iilpl p pp

Alexey Zhiltsov says:

THIS IS REEEEEEEEALLY MASSIVE!!! 😮
BUT I THINK IT NEEDS 3.2L V6 skyactive engine and more power. 🙁

Han Lin says:

great review

Darren Liu says:

the way he says mazda makes me feel uncomfortable

David Ilijevski says:

actually volvo is the other company then ford that is doing that with there engines aswell

Gonzalo Diaz says:

I appreciate your presentation but I expected from you a better explanation about the CX9 engine and performance in relation to a V6 cylinder Eng. Is this engine durable enough for a SUV usage (example long family trips) in comparison to a conventional V6 SUV?. How is the impact in a medium and long term in the performance and durability of an engine supported just for 4 Cylinder with high HP and torque in relation to a 6 cylinder engine?. What are pros and cons or advantages and disadvantages. I guaranty you that these are the major questions that people ask to themselves when take the option for purchasing a CX9 instead of a conventional SUV V6 like Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander or Nissan pathfinder or Murano. According to the use that is given for a SUV, in the medium or long term, fatigue of a 4 cyl engine is very different to a 6 cylinder engine. That is correct? Thank you very much in advance for any response

Ron Mexico says:

what is a Maazda?

Shirdenn Stevens says:

Just got one, red. Sexiest thing ever!!!

Raylor says:

really nice review. Why is Mazda adding a Technology package with no Android auto or CarPlay for iphones? what is wrong with these people? who was behind the decision to not include this feature? they should be hanged. I would have loved to purchase this vehicle but that feature is going to keep me away. dammit Mazda!

Life of Brighton says:

That’s was a great video, good insight, well produced and edited. I have a channel as well so I know the work it takes (Life of Brighton), she is my daughter, check it out. Great video, we are considering buying the signature. Cheers

kenoash says:

test drove this baby and it really was class above. very limited stock though. sales told us they only imported 25-30 quarterly. This will be my first option before RDX if ppl have the time and money to get one.

Mojogasm says:

Hi Zack, I love your reviews! I was in the market for a new mid size SUV. I looked at the Highlander, Pilot, and the Sorento. I settled for the Sorento because it felt really good to drive and I really could not argue with the price. I paid $37000 CDN (taxes in) for a 2016 Sorento EX V6 AWD . The equivalent highlander XLE /Pilot E-XL was $50000+ with taxes for similarly equipped models. At the time Mazda’s CX-9 was not really around. How does CX-9 compare to the Sorento?

wq1299 says:

The Ecoboost will smack this engine and $40K is not cheap and IMO that interior is nice, but nothing spectacular. Yeah it is a nice vehicle, but certainly not the greatest.

Anthony Macneil says:

It doesn’t have Apple or Android Auto which surprised me also no ventilated seats or panoramic roof. Sante Fe XL Ultimate offers all of the above. Like the CX9 but swinging towards Sante Fe. Would you kindly shed some light why Mazda CX9 doesn’t offer those options please? Great review

James Jamess says:

LMAO doesn’t even have Apple car or Android Auto. what a joke

Hannskarl Bandel says:

Uhh a 4 cylinder 3rd row SUV!? No thanks, this car is for poor and boring people

The IT Nerd says:

Question Zack. When I reviewed the CX-9 for my blog, I dinged it on three things. The sunroof (too small), No ventilated seats in the front, no heated seats in the second row. My logic was that many of the vehicles that it competed against had some or all of those items. I was wondering what your thoughts were on those fronts? Thanks!

Vicente Torres says:

excelent review
congratulations,
I will see this suv

Tom Anderson says:

Run like hell from any Mazda product unfortunately I own one had 17 or 18 check engine light come on in the first few months of owning it had to get state attorneys office involved to get Mazda two fix the car unfortunately it was too late To many times at the motor ran in a lean condition causing it to finally blew up at 100,000 was told it was off warrantee and Mazda didn’t care biggest POS not to mention the doors are rusting out on it worst car I’ve ever owned hope Mazda goes bankrupt they deserve it

snazari1994 says:

No heated rear seats, no ventilation in the front seats, and no panoramic sunroof and yet the signature model costs 50k plus here in Canada. Not to mention the 4 banger you’ll have to use premium gas in order to achieve the 250 hp and 310 torque that Mazda claims.

Kostas G says:

This is a 2016. 2017 models come out in September-October.

Super_Slav says:

A truly hideous car, what were they thinking with that front end?

BOI GET ROASTED says:

Honda can beat that anytime!

Theresa Moss says:

Too bad it doesn’t have 2nd row captains seats. That’s a deal breaker for me.

Dalmar Yare says:

I like the design, but what about the safety, I mean if it hits someone with that nose
