Nissan Armada Preview

If you are in the market for a full-size body-on-frame traditional SUV built for towing hauling up to 7-people around, the Nissan Armada is an import alternative to buying trucks like the Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon or Ford Expedition. A body-on-frame SUV is built of a traditional pickup truck chassis and the body is bolted on making it very capable, especially for towing up to 8500lbs.

In order to tow that much a big V8 is required. The Armada has a 5.6L engine with 390hp and 394lb.-ft. of torque with the power going through 7-speed automatic and standard 4X4 system.

The downside to a big rig like this of course if fuel economy. The Armada is rated at 17.5L/100km in the city and 12.8L on the highway.

The Armada comes with standard with front, side and curtain air bags along with traction and stability control. Even advanced forward collision warning and autonomous braking is standard.

The Armada is designed to take 7-passengers in comfort with standard heated seats on the first two rows, standard 8-inch screen that also includes navigation and an around view monitor. However the Armada is not equipped with AA and ACP.

A Armada starts at roughly $65,000, and the top model at roughly $74,000.

Here are the highlights
Many buyers are not aware that the Armada is essentially the same vehicle as the more expensive Infiniti QX80, so this less expensive version is just as capable and nearly as luxurious. The Armada is certainly an alternative to the domestic trucks too. Really think long and hard about jut how much capability you require, if towing a trailer isn’t something your do, then lighter crossover vehicles can provide as much interior space without the heavy fuel burden of a truck like this. Overall this is a family hauler with 8500lbs of towing capacity.

My wife rented one, what a POS. Nice seats but getting into the thing is a joke. Archaic dash. Buttons everywhere. Gas hog. Upper trim & it road like crap. I won’t mention the problems it had since it was a rental.

How is Nissan/Infiniti getting away with these extremely outdated interiors!?
