The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas represents a new chapter in Volkswagen’s U.S. story. Built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the seven-passenger Atlas offers competitive levels of technology and spaciousness combined with hallmark Volkswagen driving dynamics and attention to detail, all at a price designed to draw attention in the crowded family SUV segment.

“This is the biggest and boldest Volkswagen we have ever built in the United States, delivering the distinctive design and craftsmanship we’re known for, now with room for seven,” said Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO of the North American Region, Volkswagen. “The Atlas marks a brand new journey for Volkswagen to enter into the heart of the American market.”

As the newest and biggest member of the Volkswagen lineup, the full-size Atlas SUV offers family-ready passenger and cargo volume, as well as everyday usability and utility. Atlas is available in five trim levels—S, SE, SE w/ Technology, SEL and SEL Premium—and is scheduled to appear in dealer showrooms in Spring of 2017.

Mitchell Pritsker says:

Very German like vehicle?

MiniTruckin 133 says:

I just purchased the launch edition 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love mine. although it is a little underpowered specially when you have 5 people in the vehicle and the AC flying. Definitely looks way better in person than it does on video and pictures.

European 1 says:

Very nice SUV much better quality than Chevy Traverse. I test drive both cars. Traverse fills so cheap with higher trim!!

wjsj69 says:

Since when do guys shave their body hair?? ..distracting and disturbing.

Brian says:

Although VW say it is a Full size, it’s only a mid size, same with Q7.

Alex Top says:

Thats cool. Awaiting for off road testing! Rough one)))

tvhavan says:

How would you compare to Mazda cx-9?

Sethlapa Vids says:

How come Spokane sounds like spokan instead of Spo-cane?

Zach Dokuchic says:

If you’ve got a power lift gate you can also open it by having the keys on you, the vehicle must be locked but then you can wave you foot under the rear bumper and itll open on its own for you.

Steven Moore says:

Great video, Dave. The Atlas is on my list next to the Mazda CX-9.

Akash Singh says:

Forget the car
, how much for those calves?

Asad Ali says:

Great video thanks Dave

Victor Rice says:

how could you not include the most popular vehicle in the segment, the Explorer? Highlander is the smallest and hardly an option for families with 2 or more kids. Love your videos just seemed like a bad comparison.

Ski Fall says:

I’ll buy one if my grandfather ever comes back from the grave so I can show him all the great sites across America.

Planet Fabulous says:

I bet he has a six-pack! Can you do your next review shirtless please!!!

Benjamin Williams says:

What happened to EveryWoman Driver?

sunofegypt7 says:

Dave at one point you hit a bump and rumors say the suspension is horrible and the way you got julted around reminds me of turbulence on an ✈

Zach R says:

You never disappoint Dave.

akshay deshmukh says:

Finally a true compatiter for Ford explorer

yourfast07 says:

Really like your reviews !! What about the power, 235 hp on 4 cylinder and that SUV weights around 4500 lb, add 7 people and we are looking around 5500 lb.

Meiryan Giovanni says:

That center stack looks like the design team took it straight out of a honda accord. I mean it looks exactly identical especially with the vents on both sides and the piano black finish…

Eltrain67 says:

I purchased the vehicle you demo’d in this video. I can’t tell for sure, but I bought a white SEL, with black rims, rubber cargo mats, etc. from the same dealer. Small world.

Steve KIM says:

why am I not excited? Is it a design or features or the powertrain? hmm seems very below average for the money.

akshayd82 says:

Dave, you could be a bit critical as well in terms of quality and driving dynamics rather than read the manufacturer’s spec sheet :D. The Atlas feels cheap inside especially the dull plastics …

Rich Lo says:

Can’t trust VW right now…

hopefaithjoy13 says:

Trying to decide between this and the Honda Pilot. I really value your opinions and reviews when it comes to cars. I already test drove the Pilot and it felt nice but comparing it to the Atlas (haven’t tested it yet) and the space in the rear it is night and day in my opinion. I also like the look of the Atlas much better, the Pilot it too smooth and minivan like. My mind tells me to go Pilot for reliability, mileage and safety, but I so badly love the Atlas for the space and aesthetics which I know shouldn’t let drive my decision…any thoughts on VW and their reliability? Is this the kind of car/brand that can be kept long term, say 5+ years? Thank you for your time and videos 🙂

K McKenzie says:

Tou have the best reviews Dave. Thank you for always keeping up with the new cars and reviewing cars in all price ranges. Heck you even reviewed the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 SE which is what I drive and other Mitsubishis (I love Mitsubishi) and it is greatly appreciated.

VinylNiPaeng says:

hi. does it have a GPS Navigation feature?

palebeachbum says:

The exterior design, especially up front, reminds me a lot of the full-size Kia Borego SUV. At least that thing had a V8 in it.
