VW Tiguan Review. ALL-NEW NEXT GENERATION Tiguan

This is a VW Tiguan Review. 2017 Tiguan or 2018 Tiguan. The next generation all-new VW, or Volkswagen Tiguan will be arriving in 2017 as a 2018 model. This is the first small SUV or Crossover to be built of VW’s MQB platform. The new Tiguan is larger, with more interior space for up to 7-passengers and three-rows of seats. The Tiguan will have an advanced all wheel drive (AWD) system with dynamic chassis control (DCC) and will come with a turbocharged 4-cylinder or DTI. The next VW Tiguan will now have what it takes to compete in the heart of the compact crossover segment.
The 2016 Subaru Crosstrek is formally the XV Crosstrek, or Subaru Crosstreck. With more ground clearance than a subcompact crossover, like the Honda HR-V or Mazda CX-3, this new Subaru is more manageable than the popular Compact crossovers like the Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4 and Forester.
For Canadians that like to go off the beaten path, the 220mm of ground clearance will help this Subie Crosstrek in winter driving and off-road. Not a traditional SUV, this tall wagon style of compact crossover is what many Canadians are looking for.
Competitors to the VW Tiguan are the Subaru Crosstrek, the Jeep Renegade, Jeep Patriot, Ford Escape, Jeep Compass, Honda HR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mazda CX-3, Fiat 500X, Chevy Trax, Chevrolet Trax, Nissan Rogue, Nissan Juke, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-3, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Subaru Forester, Mini Countryman, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Buick Encore, Volkswagen Tiguan, VW Tiguan, BMW X1

The North American Tiguan looks boooring! I wish they would released the same version they released in Europe.

funkmast99 says:

How much you wanna bet that what we see hear will look nothing like the Canadian version? I don’t get how VW can sell us last year’s models for more money than the competition.

Daniel Raftö says:

Great review! Funny term though ‘the Scandinavian flick”, I had no idea it existed. Nonetheless that’s how we take corners in Sweden. 🙂

Chinmonkie says:

Zak do you know if the 2017/18 Tiguan will have DSG transmission? If not, did you get to test drive one in Scandinavia and how did it feel compared to the traditional auto?

ac3audip says:

Yau the new generation VW baby stroller.

Jonny Fenton says:

Why are we Canadians always at the back of the line-up, when it comes to getting new German cars?  Plus we don’t get the Polo, Scirocco and Golf/Passat All Track either.

A whole year and a half VW can’t afford right now. That Tiguan should be here ASAP to drum up interest in the beleaguered brand.

The tires looks very small… hope that doesn’t affect handling.

It’s about time! Love the new design. No more ‘Hello Kitty’ when you see current models driving by. It kind of reminds me of the Jetta Wagon.

can’t wait for you to do a full review when we get it in Canada. when you get to review it, can you showcase the power tailgate and the android auto head unit. hopefully we get the tft instrument cluster as well.

T T says:

I’ve been waiting for this model in Canada since the beginning of 2016. I thought it would come out by the end of 2016 as a 2017 model. But when I saw the 2017 model, I was sooooooooo disappointed!!! How much longer do I still need to wait………………………………………

B T says:

Biggest issue – that rubbish DSG. I really don’t understand how can people be happy with the transmission, its jerkiness and the feel. Give me torque converter one any day if it has to be an auto.
